I will try today again then; clearly you got it working and if it works for you it should work for me too.
One note, not sure if that makes any difference, but I do not use the X server as WM, as I run only in terminal, so the OS boot in terminal mode. The only time I use a WM is via Wayland with Sway. Not sure if that should matter, but I should see the boot logo/colored screen at least when it boots up, as "sign of life".
