@hippy, yes of course that can be done. But I don't think I'll find that kind of wording in an SST datasheet.
Anyway I was looking at a Renesas app note, it is more descriptive on the tVSL period. tVSL is VCC (min) to /CS Low which is 20 µs for the Pico flash. Renesas described that period as device initialization where config settings are copied from non-volatile area to registers. After that, read instructions (hence /CS) are allowed.
What I am interested in is whether a soft reset can clear any spurious state in the flash due to /CS low and pins floating about during reset == device init out of reset cannot be disturbed by /CS low. Or can it? I have some W25Q64JV breakout boards, I might try it out later this week.
