The code in your original post used the libcamera-jpeg app.
As that seemed to be working, your system was set up with the new recommended 'libcamera' stack.
By enabling the deprecated 'legacy' stack you have disabled the libcamera support.
Try going back into raspi-config and disable the legacy support, and that should allow the libcamera code to work again.
