After several hours of debugging. I found the issue.
Writing about it here as it may help others.
Dont choose the' custom settings 'while preparing the OS image using Raspbery Pi OS imager. Use only the default settings.
If you set a few custom settings like wifi , password, etc. It messes up the repository details. There seems to be an issue with Imager.
There may be other better solutions like fixing the package repository it's pointing to etc. But I found a workaround, as my aim is to move forward with AI Camera, I am not spending any more time on it.
