I am working on a project where I need to detect motion (e.g., someone crossing an imaginary line) at a distance of 30(ish) yards. I don't have an option on this project to use a reflective sensor. The accuracy is not critical but the distance is. What option does everyone have that could help solve this for me?
Any option is a good option for me at this point!

Can you place a PIR sensor at the remote location, and use an RF signal to transmit the status back to the base?
Can you use a zoom lens on a camera, and do motion detection from 30 ft?
