MacOS is based on an old version of BSD UNIX (that is, if a Raspberry Pi OS user reached a command line on MacOS they would find things quite familiar - if rather dated).

on the Mac Mini M4 to measure the difference between performance and efficiency cores. My attempt failed because macOS has no way to set processor affinity to lock a task to a particular core. I found the software limitations astonishing. I guess it's difficult for a small development team to keep up with Linux.
The M4 processor on the other hand is great.
