Some parts in the datasheet are ambiguous (for example, "cleared" output shift counter apparently means "empty" means set to 32, not 0; see here). Or that the mov osr, rxfifo[…] instructions affect the output shift counter the same way as other mov osr, … or pull. In some places it's called counter, in others count.
piodebug is nice for checking some of these things (for MicroPython; but parts can also be used in C/C++).
