I downloaded the latest pi OS which I think is bookworm from the Operating system images site.
Raspberry Pi OS with desktop
Release date: November 19th 2024
System: 32-bit
Kernel version: 6.6
Debian version: 12 (bookworm)
Size: 1,177MB
I now have a pi running debian 12 and that is a whole new experience in itself.
When it boots I get a whole heap of text scrolling down the screen
One thing I did notice was that Plymouth was labelled hold till after boot.
I do not think it is opening the pi desktop
This has happened to me before when I had to reflash the SD card and I lost my whole project (should have backed up I know) the only consistences are the SD card and the pi I now don't think the pi is at fault because it is running debian quite happily.
I am not going to change SD cards as I do not want to go back to square one but I did move my projects to a USB stick so I do have a backup.
