I just bought a new display monitor to use with the raspberry pi 5, 8Gb. The monitor has built-in speakers. So I assumed the hdmi cable carryng video would also carry sound and would recognize the output device in the monitor.
IT DOESN'T !. The only way to get sound is via bluetooth to bluetooth .earphones.
So I hooked the monitor up to my Raspberry pi 4.and with raspi-config set the audio out to hdmi.
This worked right away (using same cable btw).
I know I am not the only one with this problem but I have not found a working solution,
btw the raspi-config audio configuration (1,S2) works on the Raspi 4 but doesn't function in the Raspi 5.
This seems to be an oversight that needs an explanation at least.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this problem ?
