On a Pi3+ running Bookworm 64-bit with desktop (and all 169 updates), reboot then enable a hotspot as per

I usedI then connected an iPad Air to that WiFi and used VNC Viewer on the iPad to log in. All OK.
An android phone also worked. (Haven't done the SDR on the Pi3)
The Pi ip address was 10.42.0.1
