I’m honestly not sure about the SRAM question. I briefly had it compiling as -DPICO_NO_FLASH=1, but I haven’t for a while as it seemed to not be running correctly.
Before I updated to using the RP2350, I had it running on a standard Pico/RP2040, without the use of the VACode Pico extension, and I regularly found that compiling into CMake’s Debug/RelWithDebug would compile ok, but if I used release, it would all fall apart with optimizations, but never tracked down what the issues were there. I assumed core synchronisation.
