Compute Module • RPi5: USB-C support

I was interested to see the all brand new RPi5 compute module, however the carrier board has USB3, USBmicro and HDMI connections.
Isn't everything USB-C these days (EU legislation etc.)?
I found the look severely outdated, do others agree?
disclaimer: I do prefer smaller & newer....
