I can't understand how/why this could possibly be termed an "interesting exercise".
People run Windows because they have to, not because they want to or choose to.
In my case, I ran Windows (on at least one machine) for a long time, because there was one particular piece of software that I used - that ran only on Windows. Eventually that software stopped working (server to which it connected was disbanded), so Windows no mas.
