Hi Elsa,Hi ve3hls,
Would it be possible to take a picture of what you are seeing?
Use a video capturing card or the easiest way, take a picture with your smartphone.
You can use imgbox - fast, simple image host by creating an account and upload your images to it.I've been using it for years, it is safe, easy and only has small banners ads.
If you are in a rush and got no data to lose on your RPi5... reboot, hold [Shift] and start from scratch.
About switching back and forth with your keyboard/mouse. I would suggest that you get something similar to MX Keys S Combo. It comes with a single usb dongle (use the USB 3.0 ports), which that you connect to your RPi5 and when using your MacOS and/or WinOS, you can pair them via Bluetooth. They are other models out there but this one really helps with my productivity and I work in several OS and Hardware, also the keyboard has MacOS and WinOS layout.
Not sure if the RPi5 likes to have its keyboard/mouse unplug/plug while it is on which sounds that you are not doing that but make sure it is turned off your RPI5, plug the peripherals in and boot the RPi5. It should load normally if not... try it again but unplug the power cable, plug back your keyboard/mouse and turn it on.
Take care an enjoy your RPi5 because mine does not love me.
Cheers,
Elsa Balletina
My Pi and I aren't exactly on friendly term, either. I had high hopes for it when I bought it a month ago, but there seems to be a lot of hostility just below the surface!

I re-imaged the SD card and the problem went away. I've re-imaged it so often that there hasn't been time to install anything of value on it. Before, it would boot to a Command Line Interface (CLI). I had the brilliant idea of running raspi-config from the command prompt. Among other things, it lets you determine whether the Pi boots to a CLi or GUI. I selected GUI, saved, exited and rebooted, but it still booted to the CLI so that apparently wasn't the problem. It runs fine now with the new image.
Thanks for jumping in! Where ya from in Canada? I lived in Richmond Hill before retiring and moving to Thailand.
