Troubleshooting • Re: Negative output values for 3.3 v and 5 v sources on Rpi 3B+

What are you using for the reference potential (meter negative)?

Does the Pi (on its own) work? If not, something you did probably killed it. Upgrades won't cause negative voltages.

Note that the recommended update/upgrade mantra is

but that is not related to the negative voltages.

memjr: Note that it's not simple voltage inversion. As described, it's -5V on the 3V3 pin and -3V3 on the 5V pin. If anything can cause that, it's meter negative at 8V3 above Pi Gnd. Miswiring the Pi and the ESP (each with separate supplies) and choosing the worst possible point as the meter negative could produce that effect.Beyond that, it's all a little strange.
Yes, the Pi is working on its own. Btw, it is just a voltage inversion, I'm not getting 8V3 anywhere.
