I don't think I have configured it to be headless, but I will check the configuration and reload the OS.

For the point about SSH, once I'd powered the board on, I wasnt able to find it's IP using ping -4 raspberrypi.local

use RPI-Imager for flashing the OS to your uSD. Make sure to enable SSH and input your WiFi details!

I've not said it's configured for headless! But as you can't see something on your screen you still can SSH into the Pi and check certain things/make configurations.
