Troubleshooting • Re: getting OSError: libbcm_host.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory error while accessing cam

you have to own the modifications and things which arise from them (such as APT wanting to revert you to systemd because you found a package that has a dependency on some part of systemd).
I assure you I am well proper used to packages asking for SystemD. Please show me where I complained about that. I reacted to python3-picamera2 wanting to pull in things like qt5-gtk-platformtheme and libgtk-3-common - I'm used to python libraries being rather more frugal in their requirements. And yes, that was true also with --no-install-recommends.
You were not calling out the issue with systemd directly, it was just an obvious problem implied in the complaint about the overall size of the install. I don't know why you're getting GTK stuff with --no-install-recommends of python3-picamera2, that doesn't happen on a reasonably standard Raspios 12 Lite 64-bit install; so that would seem to be down to something about your existing OS.
