I'm trying to open up my new Global Shutter camera from the command line on my Pi3. I have been able to confirm it's working with raspicam-hello, but I need a more persistent stream to my display.
I think this must be a very obvious solution, but I can't seem to make it work otherwise.
I downloaded VLC, and I am able to run it from the command line and it enters what it calls "command line mode." However, I can't figure out how to open the camera.
I typed in ls /dev/fb* and output is /dev/fb0
There are many guides to stream between the Pi and another device using VLC, but I can't find anything that tells me how to just use VLC from the command line and open a camera stream.
My goal is to get this setup so that I can just have the Pi boot up directly into the video stream so that it can be a dedicated microscope. At least for now, I don't need to stream the camera anywhere outside, just to the connected HDMI display.
Can anyone help me? This is my first time with the cameras, and it's a little confusing.
TIA
