By "gather", I meant gets the info from the user. Apple products can share WiFi creds by some means.I would love to see the code if it does in fact do that, works out what the home WiFi password is.I have found code that will create an access point and gather the ssid and pwd for the user's home Wifi
As to reporting the IP address once it's on the network a port scan may identify that. I don't know what Windows or Linux use for uPnP detection but that might be possible. Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP) is another option which should be easy to implement but I haven't got round to trying that yet.
Other options are to display the IP address as morse code or by simple number of pulses on the on-board LED. On my headless Pi I use text to speech.
The pnp on the router is an option, but the end users is VERY non-technical, I'm concerned that they would have trouble just finding their ssid and password. Pulsing the LED? Do you expect somebody to count 192 and then 168 pulses?
