A co-researcher brought an interesting question into our discussion about creating camera profiles based on the pure spectral sensitivity function (SSF) of the RGB channels combined with the UV/IR filter instead of actually photographing a ColorChecker24 / Macbeth test image
the ccm's of the imx477_scientific.json tuning file were actually created that way (for details, see here: viewtopic.php?t=343449#p2057465).
Citing my own writing:
The color parameters have been calculated by using the sensor's filter response curves (digitized from a data sheet), the transmission spectrum of the IR-block filter (measured by myself), the spectrum of the scene (illumination spectrum, a CIE standard) as well as artificial color checker spectra (publicly available for standard color checkers).
Ideally, you would want to measure the sensor's response curves, but that is not that easy.
