Troubleshooting • Packages in LibreELEC that aren't in Raspberry Pi OS?

Still trying to get OTA TV stick to work on RPi 5. It works fine insofar as gathering channels goes, either by Kaffeine or w_scan_cpp. Both Kaffeine and VLC are VLC-based, and the video plays perfectly in both but the audio is a combination of silence and pops. Starting either in a terminal produces errors, the significant ones being:

Code:

[mpeg2_v4l2m2m @ 0x7fff5804e100] Could not find a valid device[mpeg2_v4l2m2m @ 0x7fff5804e100] can't configure decoder[00007fff58013710] avcodec decoder error: cannot start codec (mpeg2_v4l2m2m)[00005556238c9770] main audio output error: too low audio sample frequency (0)[00007fff58053150] main decoder error: failed to create audio output
Both Kaffeine and VLC play recorded videos in local storage as they should.

In that others report (or reported pre-Pipewire) success both with the device and VLC/Kaffeine, I am hoping that I have a package missing or some configuration that is lacking. I've particularly noticed success reported with LibreELEC, but I'd not like to be limited to that distribution. I've be at this pretty much full-time since Wednesday with no progress. And most all of the advice is more than a decade old.

I have tvheadend installed but have failed to look at it, because it seems like getting a bulldozer to drive down to the store. Likewise Kodi, which breaks sound on everything else and requires a reboot after closing Kodi to get it back.

Anybody know how I can fix this?
