Motor bulk capacitors are normally in the hundreds of microfarads for low voltage circuits, you aren't going to achieve that with ceramic capacitors unless you use a number of them. Also noting that the higher values are probably the least reliable.

My own personal very crude rule of thumb is 100uF per amp so I recently used 300uF on a 3 amp 12V motor, I could probably have got away with a lower value but I was actually tempted to use more on a fix-once principal.

My problem was latching relays dropping out when the motor span up.because of the instantaneous voltage drop, the motor was probably attempting to draw 10 amps or so in surge current. The supply is unregulated and roughly rated for 5 amps.
